Chicken House
02:18
|
|||
I’m gonna build me a chicken house
I’m gonna build it high
I’m gonna build me a chicken house
Build it to the sky
I’m gonna build it 2 floors high build it 3 doors wide
I’m gonna build me a chicken house
My chickens can live inside
I’m gonna build me a chicken house
With all my chicks in side
You gotta pay me a dollar bill and you can come inside
I’m gonna build it 3 floors high build it 5 doors wide
I’m gonna build me a chicken house
And you can come inside
I’m gonna build me a chicken house
Plenty of chicks in side
They can dance for a dollar bill
Two to take a ride
They gonna work on all 4 floors their doors are all spread wide
I’m gonna build me a chicken house
And no one sleeps in side
I’m gonna build me a chicken house
I’m gonna build it high
I’m gonna build me a chicken house
Build it to the sky
I’m gonna build it 2 floors high build it 3 doors wide
I’m gonna build me a chicken house
My chickens can live inside

I Got You
05:21
|
|||
I needed me some money so I got up with the sun
I packed my pick and shovel and a packed myself a gun
Into the hills to break some rocks the rush has just begun
You and me together like young lovers on the run
Well the days are short, the nights are dark, the snow knows what to do
The river gives us nothing and our bones are frozen through
We staked our claim and work all day but dirt is all we view
You say you want to leave me but I’m gonna stick with you
I ain’t got no money, ain’t got no food - but I got you...
There’s bodies by the water’s edge lay frozen in the slime
For days on end I watch them and I’m hungry all the time
Catch the rats that eat off them, and boil ‘em up in stew
They’re skin and bone and string and shit, but baby I got you
The devil spoke and said “a hungry man, he needs to eat,
And a blade of steel can reach into the part where her heart beats.
And a butcher’s eye can tell it is a lean and tasty treat”
He took my hand and lead me to the table and said “Eat”
I ain’t got no money, ain’t got no food - but I got you...
I call on all my neighbours by the river
I offer them a chance to help us through
Everyday I feel a little better
I ain’t got no money, ain’t got no food - but I got you...
They’re hunting us with dogs, and with knives and rifles, too
The cold: it hurts and all that I survive upon is you
You’re staying with me, girl, - yeah, now forever
Gnawing all the flesh off of your bones will see me through
I ain’t got no money, ain’t got no food - but I got you...

Gunfighter's Lament
04:09
|
|||
My name it ain’t important, I'm an ordinary man
But my hands are quicker than most who roam around
Through the scrubland of the borders
And along the Rio Grande
There are many men who seek me out
And wanna face me down
Some they try to jump me, And some they stand their ground
But deep behind their eyes they are afraid
And I give them a clear warning
And I give them one last chance
And to every single one of them this is what I say:
Walk away now young 'un
You're not quicker 'n me
Try to move a muscle and you'll see
Put the gun down young 'un
'lest you wanna die
Move an inch and I will shoot you right between the eyes.
Well there's many want to best me,
and there's many that have tried
And there's many mothers' sons under the hill
But I give them clear warning
And I give them one last chance
But spoken loud and clearly are the words that I say still
Walk away now young 'un...
Then one day the quickness of the hand it lets me down
And a young buck carves his name into the west
And the darkness wraps around me
But I fight to keep what's left
Til at the pearly gates I breathe my final breath....
Now you know that I ain't stayin'
And you know that I'm still quick
And you know I'll fight cos I'm not stayin' dead
But when St Peter turned to face me
He'd a 6 gun at his hip
And he smiled with shining eyes, - and this is what he said...
You'll stay here now young 'un
You're not quicker 'n me
Try to move a muscle and you'll see
Put the gun down young 'un
Everyone gotta die
But move an inch and I will shoot you
Right between the eyes.

He spent last night communing with the angels
And he's exhausted from reliving all his sins
He smiles as he remembers how they helped him
And how they all joined in with all his dreams
And the Angels spend a lot of their time kneeling,
and sometimes they take turns to turn around,
But it's time he took his turn,
show the angels he can learn
And with a gentle word they rain forgiveness down.
Tonight he kneels to worship at the altar
And the angels stand in judgment of his prayers
His face upon the sacred and the holy
And the angels smile as he answers their prayers
And the Angels spend a lot of their time kneeling ....,
There's a promise of salvation in the darkness
And he's spending time in heaven's arms of grace
When they're sliding down the slippery slopes of Satan
they're sure to have a smile upon their face
And the Angels spend a lot of their time kneeling...

You Can Tell By My Eyes
06:04
|
|||
Got up in the morning , And I strapped on a gun
Saddled up my pony, And rode into the sun
Never was and angry man, Until you came along
I used to have a family, But now those days are gone
You really messed it up this time, You should have left me dead
There's a silver star upon my vest, And a price upon your head
The pounding is inside my head, The pain is in my heart
Your boots are on the table, And your brothers, they all laugh
You can tell what I want, you can tell by my eyes
And if any one moves, then everyone dies
Boot prints on a pretty face, A blade across the throat
You took away the beautiful, You took away the hope
The business is of family, Just look me in the eye
I'll take a tooth for every tooth, And I'll leave you were you lie
You can tell what I want…
Though it won't help remove the pain
And it won't bring them back to life
It's just a marker on their graves
But i will find a way to kill you twice
Got up in the morning , And I strapped on a gun
Saddled up my pony, And rode into the sun
You can tell what I want, you can tell by my eyes
And if any one moves, then everyone dies
Please somebody move

She Left My Truck
02:52
|
|||
There's a stretch of road that leads to Misery,
The 45 that's heading to what seems to be the sea
In the woodland that I’ve known all of my life,
In a parking spot she punched me and told me she'd be my wife
I was beaten into love and into work
It was a prison where the guard would go berserk
If she found I'd turned my wages into beer
I was sleeping under blankets in my pick-up for a year
She's a rusting wreck and she's full of useless junk
She's got tons of garbage stuffed inside her trunk
I was broken down and beat, and out of luck
When she left, she took my money but she left my truck
She came home one night itching for a fight
Decked me with the knuckles of her right
Emptied out my wallet on the floor
Took all our money and kicked me as I lay beside the door
She's a rusting wreck and she's full of useless junk...
Well that truck's the only friend I ever had
A place to go when times were good or bad
8 cylinders that growled along the street
The only place that I could go to drink and fuck and eat
When the bruises went, the sun shone in the sky
It got better every day and time rolled by
I still live in my truck cos I preferred
To burn the cabin down cos it fuckin' stank of her
She's a rusting wreck and she's full of useless junk...
